About

How This Started

A few years ago, I found out the sales team at my company had submitted a bid without involving finance. The pricing they used hadn't been updated in over five years. I ran the actual numbers — at those prices, the work would lose money.

That specific bid got corrected. But nothing structural changed. The company was busy, revenue was coming in, and nobody was watching whether the work was actually profitable.

That pattern — making money on paper, losing it in practice, with nobody connecting the two — is exactly what Wegman Finance is built around.

Why This Exists

I'm a CPA. I started in banking, moved into public accounting at a regional firm in Syracuse, and then into corporate finance, budgets, annual planning, pro formas, margin analysis, and management reviews. That was the work I was best at and liked the most.

At some point I realized the owners who needed this most were running businesses too small to have a finance department — but not too small to need one. That's where I wanted to be.

Most of the businesses I work with are generating real revenue. What they don't have is someone translating the financial picture into something usable — not at tax time, but when it matters. That's the gap this fills.

Wegman Finance is not a bookkeeping firm. It is not tax prep. It is not a fractional CFO arrangement. It sits in between, clean books, plain-language interpretation, decision support, and forward-looking visibility, delivered on an ongoing basis. The full structure is on the services page.
